Joy Montgomery has had leadership roles in several associations.
AFCEA, the Armed Forces Communication and Electronics Association www.afcea.org
Joy is a past president of the Silicon Valley chapter of AFCEA (the association for communications, electronics, information processing and intelligence professionals), and was the regional representative for all Northern California chapters to the national Small Business Committee.
APICS, the Association for Operations Management www.apics.org
Joy is a past president of the Mission Peak chapter of APICS (the Association for Operations Management). She has been a presenter at the Chapter, District, and International level for APICS.
DAR, The National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution www.dar.org
For the National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, Joy is a Deputy Representative to the Veterans Affairs Voluntary Services Advisory Committee. She is also a volunteer at the Livermore VA and holds weekly meetings for transitioning Veterans and a monthly career development workshop for Veterans, Reservists, Guard members and military spouses at Camp Parks, California.

Joy is the Executive Director of ReBoot Camp. This effort helps returning Veterans reconnect to Family, Community, and Career. The transition from combat to civilian life is now a matter of hours and doesn't always happen easily. The transition from military training to civilian uses for that training is hindered by differences in terminology. The difficulty in finding appropriate work impacts the ability to reconnect to family and to community. ReBoot Camp strives to make the transition more successful on all fronts.
STC, the Society for Technical Communication www.stc.org
Joy is a senior member of the Society for Technical Communication (STC) and has won technical communication awards. For STC, she is a judge in the Northern California Technical Communication Competition and in the Gordon Scholarship Competition. Joy has been a presenter at the chapter level.

As a Toastmaster, Joy has achieved advanced certifications and held club, area and division offices. In competitions, she has won awards. She is a presenter and team leader for the Toastmasters District 57 Speakers Bureau.
